April 20, 2008

The Story of Brandi Hawbaker’s Suicide has been going all all day today. Neverwinpoker.com issued a presss release saying that they have confirmed that Brandi committed suicide today.

Below is a statement form “Micon” owner of NWP-

“Brandi Hawbaker to some, Naami Dea to others, took her own life on Sunday. This news has been confirmed through Brandon and Brandi’s family. Brandon, Brandi’s family, and friends have asked the poker world to respect their privacy while they grieve. “

Brandi was made famous by the stories of her exploits with 2+2 Forum member(s) and famous owner, David Sklansky. She has been called every name in the book and has been the subject of Poker Media sites for the last couple of years. She has been accused of stealing money from several well known Poker Players, and has been labeled a slut and a gold digger. It’s been a real sad story to follow.

We will report more when we know more.

Epassporte Shuts down industry wide

April 11, 2008

It started as a rumor, and now it is fact. Epassporte has cut off all online gaming sites today in a sudden and unexpected move. This is just like what Neteller did a couple years ago, without notice, and without warning.Several people are scrambling trying to get money off of epassporte and someplace safe.

This is a serious blow to many poker players that have been relying on Epassporte to move money between poker sites. Once again our useless government is working hard to make our lives as difficult as possible. The funny part is that we will have another e-cashier take their place in a matter of days. Cake Poker has already launched a in e-wallet called my “Use my wallet” and I would bet many other rooms do the same.

the bottom line is that Online Poker is a billion dollar business and poker players are very determined to fight against people trying to limit our rights as US citizens. This attempt to deter us will fail just like the UIEGA and Neteller. We will play on, and we will win. in the meantime, if you can get to your epassporte account, get your money out!

Very official too folks - this is from Cake Poker’s website:

“To all Cake Poker Customers:

We have received notice from ePassporte today that they are unable to continue to provide CakePoker with merchant e-wallet services. We have since confirmed that this situation is not unique to CakePoker and is, in fact, industry wide.

While we are disappointed with this decision, we want to reassure all players that there will be no impact to either your account balances or your account status at Cake. We are pleased to have launched earlier this week with a new payment processor and have already secured alternative processors/eWallets that we will be launching in the weeks to come.

We are also in discussions with other providers that will be making their services available in the CakePoker cashier soon. Players are welcome to inquire with Customer Support for more details.
As always, we value your business and will continue to make every effort possible to make your poker experience a great one.

Regards,

The Cake Poker Team”

Epassporte Shuts Off US Players?

April 11, 2008

Although we cannot officially confirm this Rumor. We do know that Poker sites including Cake Poker and Absolute Poker had removed the option from their sites. Poker Stars still lists it as an option, but if you click on it you get an error message. This has all the feeling of a Neteller size mess and many in the poker world are really nervous.

This rumor first started on some well known poker forums 2+2 and PokerTrikz - and has quickly spread across the online poker community. You can read the official threads here and here- As of right now, we don’t have official word from PokerStars or Cake Poker and we have tried several times to contact them. I wouldn’t push the panic button yet, but this brings back very bad memories for many poker players.

We are contacting everyone we know in the poker industry trying to get an official response. We will update as soon as we know anything else.

Software
The software is ok in my opinion. It is pretty plain and nothing very special about it. It would be nice if they beefed it up a bit.

Most of the action at Doyle is at the Texas Hold’em tables. Not too much action going anywhere else. They do have a good selection of MTT’s though.
