2+2 Forums Deleting Strategy Posts
August 13, 2008
I got an email today from a Mod at 2+2 forums telling me that they have been instructed to start deleting sticky strategy posts and even good strategy posts from their forums because it is “hurting book sales”. As most everyone knows, 2+2 Publishing was primarily a book publishing company but became a huge strategy forum shortly after the poker boom in 2003.
Some of the best poker player sin the world got their start hanging around the 2+2 Forums. Stars like: Greg Raymer, Cliff Joesphy, OMG ClayAiken, Gigabet, and many more.
This latest move by 2+2 shows that not only do they have no clue as to what they are doing, but it also underscores that they are not keeping up with the current market. Book have mostly been replaced by coaching videos, streaming videos, actual coaches, and loads on practice. Players don’t need to read books that are wrote from a “live game” point of view because a majority of their time will be spent online.
In my opinion, I think this will eventually cause a major reduction in traffic and sales on 2+2. The forum members over there are their customers, and customer don’t like be force fed bad outdated books.
In the meantime, you can still read poker strategy articles and watch free poker videos at PokerTrikz.
