2008 PokerStars WCOOP Gets Set In Motion Today!

Excitement is in the air as the PokerStars 2008 World Championship of Online Poker kicks off today. Players from all around the world are stepping into high gear as the premier tournament commences at 2:30p.m. (EST). It shall all begin with the $215 6-max No Limit Hold’em event featuring a hefty guaranteed prize pool of $1 Million.
The second event of the day will be the $215 Pot Limit 5 Card Draw with a $100K Guaranteed. The eighteen day Championship will conclude on September 22nd as the climacteric two-day Main event will go into full swing with a massive $10 Million Guaranteed Prize Pool.
Thirty-three events in all will be played during this highly anticipated tournament including a few events for high stakes players. A new feature to PokerStars WCOOP is the addition of mixed games which should really spice things up a bit. In particular is an eight game event which includes No Limit Hold’em, 2-7 Triple Draw, Razz, Stud, Stud Hi/Lo, LHE, LO8 and PLO as one event played in rotatable fashion.
The week of September 7th through 14th will host the big money events with incredible buy-ins. They will include the $10,300 along with the High Roller No Limit Hold’em event and the impressive $25,500 High Roller Head’s Up No Limit Hold’em event. Stakes this high will absolutely make for suspenseful online poker action.
PokerStars is without question going all out for this premier online poker event. With the overall guaranteeds in the realm of $30,000,000 on the line, the 2008 WCOOP is sure to go down as one of the most memorable online poker events to date.
