“60 Minutes” To Finally Air Absolute Scandal.

Online Poker will finally be in the spotlight once again when the hit CBS show “60 Minutes” gets set to air its controversial piece on the Absolute Poker superuser account scandal. Many insiders were uncertain as to when it would air, but it looks as though CBS execs have decided to feature its findings during a broadcast in late October. From what I’ve heard from noted Poker Blogs and authors such as Nat Arem, it doesn’t look as if television will be kind to both Absolute Poker and online gambling in general - mainly because the idea of the show focuses on airing controversy among domestic and global issues.

The show will most likely feature interviews with several high-profile poker players, particularly Annie Duke of Team Ultimate Bet. The people who originally broke the story of the scandals going on over at Absolute are not scheduled to make an appearance, although the revelations and findings of Nat Arem and many 2+2 forum veterans were the primary pieces of evidence used to blow the story up into the global spotlight. I hope that for poker’s sake the crew over at “60 Minutes” isn’t too patronizing - mainly because any negativity from the story could be used in future Congressional hearings that might still see online gambling as a threat.

Look for this special episode to appear on October 26th, 2008. Check your local schedules for exact times on the broadcast airing.
