Durrrr Dwan wins a record breaking $919K pot on High Stakes Poker!

Tom Dwan, known online as durrrr, took down a record-breaking $919,000 pot on High Stakes Poker, aired last night on GSN. Dwan has been crushing the table during the latest series of High Stakes Poker and although this monumental pot was basically a coinflip it was only just desserts for the way that he has been playing.

Eastgate raised to $3500 preflop with AK - Greenstein 3-bet to $15000 with AA, Durr made a terrifying cold-call with KsQs and Eastgate was left with no choice but to overcall. An action flop came down - Qh4s2s - giving durrrr top pair second kicker with the second nut flush draw - almost an exact coinflip (49.8%) against Greenstein’s overpair.

Dwan donked $28700 into Greenstein who reraised to $100000, Durr 3-bet to $244000 and Greenstein of course shoved all in - Durr of course called and both players agreed to run the cards just one time! In scenes reminiscent of David Benyamine’s meltdown vs Guy Laliberte, Greenstein kindly offered to let Dwan take back $200000 but the young pro merely shook his head, confidently content to take the high variance play and let the chips fall where they may. With momentum and 14 outs it somehow seemed inevitable that Dwan would win the pot and on the turn came another Q to leave Greenstein with just one out to save him. It didn’t come and Dwan took down the biggest pot in the history of High Stakes Poker and indeed of all televised poker!

In only the previous episode Dwan and Greenstein clashed before - Greenstein had sucked out on Dwan (again with an overpair) and famously said for the Two Plus Two forum members that ‘math is idiotic’, pocketing not only the pot but a healthy contribution to his charity in the process.
