PokerStars Security

PokerStars has been known for their tight security up until now. Hopefully their security team was fast enough to catch this problem before anything becomes of it.

This is a pretty big blow to the poker industry after the recent Ultimate Bet Cheating and Absolute Poker Scandal. This isn’t anywhere near the magnitude or severity of those issues, but is still quite scary. Hopefully everything turns out well for both PokerStars and especially all the players involved in this situation.

RidgeGaming and PokerNewsTeam will both be covering any following information from this security issue. If you’ve heard anything or what to chime in with your opinions, make sure you leave a comment below.

RidgeGaming still believes PokerStars is a safe site to play at, but you should always be careful of files you download off the internet and keep an anti-virus. If you feel like playing at a different site though, Aced Poker is a great site and they are offering a really nice Aced Poker Rakeback deal right now.

This is not a breach of PokerStars security.

That is made abundantly clear from the email you quote.

The criminals involved in this are targeting computers owned by PokerStars users in order to access their PokerStars accounts.

Anyone who has access to your computer can access your account, that is true no matter what poker room you patronize. There is nothing any poker room can do to prevent that. Only you can be responsible for safeguarding your machine.

PokerStars deserves kudos for identifying this breach of customer’s machines and freezing the accounts.

Got something to say?
