“Slaktarn” Beats Patrik Antonius For $25K Heads Up Omaha Title!

$25K Full Tilt Poker Heads-Up Event Crowns Winner.

Full Tilt Poker just concluded one of their most talked-about tournaments of the year with the $25K Heads-Up Omaha championship.  The site’s first installment of $25K Heads-Up tournaments began back in early May, when Full Tilt Pro David Singer took down the No Limit Hold Em HU event.  The event’s buyin alone attracts the biggest sharks in the online poker world, and there was definitely no shortage of Red Pros that would also make an appearance as well.

The 2-day event saw 56 players get eliminated on Day 1 alone.  The remaining 8 players represented those who would make the money, each one getting a guaranteed $96,000.  However, that amount was almost meaningless to the final players lucky enough to make it past the first day, as many of them were no strangers to big money.  Two of them in particular - Patrik Antonious and Hac Dang - had battled many times at the $200/$400 PLO level before facing each other heads-up in the Final Four.

Antonious would turn down a deal proposed to him by Dang early on in their match, something that would prove profitable as he would take his young online aggressor down and advance to the final.  His opponent would be heads-up Omaha specialist “Slaktarn.”  In the end, it would be Antonious who would succumb to his online counterpart after a just a few blind levels.  Slaktarn would win $560,000 for 1st place, sending home Full Tilt Red Pro Antonious home in 2nd with a $320,000 consolation payday.
